If you’ve ever been to Niceville’s 3rd Planet Brewing, you’ll see “Rooted in the Community” painted on their wall. This mission statement is what makes the business more than just a place with good beer. One of the ways 3rd Planet gives back to the community is by hosting numerous fundraising events throughout the year. In February, 3rd Planet hosted its 4th annual bonfire. The Brewery, which just won a couple of statewide awards for its beer, partnered with the Niceville Fireworks Trust Fund to raise money for the city’s 4th of July fireworks. The city of Niceville sold pork dinners at the bonfire – which raised $5,900 for the fund. Tim McCool, one of 3rd Planet’s owners and founders said, “3rd Planet Brewing’s annual bonfire was a great fundraising event. This is the sixth time we partnered with the Niceville Fireworks Trust Fund and the 4th annual bonfire held the Friday of Super Bowl weekend for the annual Fireworks on the Bayou…It was a large community gathering with an estimated 3,000 attendees.” The brewery is committed to the community, McCool said, “We host an average of at least one charitable event a month.” The Brewery currently has three fundraisers planned for April. The charitable events include a murder mystery party and a firetruck pull. Both will benefit local charities.
