Women supporting breast cancer research receive a proclamation from the City of Niceville which was intended to raise awareness about a walk to raise money for breast cancer research.

Mayor Daniel Henkel issued a proclamation making October 9-15 Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Week in Niceville.ย

The recipient of the proclamation, Tobey Williams, is a seven-year survivor of Breast Cancer and says that events like the walk – which raises money for treatments and research – literally saved her life.ย

ย

โ€œNumbers [of people at the event] count,โ€ Williams said. The American Cancer Society โ€œraised the money and did the research for the medication that I stayed on for five years, or I would not be standing here tonight.โ€

ย

The week coincides with the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk, which will take place on October 15th at Northwest Florida State College.ย

Registration starts at 8am and the walk starts at 9am. You can also sign up here
