Just minutes after the tweet of the referee’s whistle signaled the start of the game, Niceville’s Sophia Edwards scored the first goal of the game after gaining possession of the ball and taking an impressive shot from outside of the 18-yard box, allowing the ball to float above the goalkeepers head and land in the back of the net. Soon after, the Eagles gained possession of the ball again and scored the second goal of the night with a beautiful passing combination and assist. To close the two-point score gap, the Dolphins took a shot just a few yards from the center field line but were denied a goal by Niceville’s goalkeeper, Chloe Aldrich. 

As the first half slowly ended, a free kick gave the Dolphins one more chance to put a point on the scoreboard, but the shot landed directly in the gloves of goalkeeper Chloe Aldrich. Niceville’s Sophia Edwards finished off the first 40 minutes of the game with a beautiful shot taken from the top of the 18-yard box that landed in the bottom left corner of the goal, giving the Eagles a lead of 3-0 as they headed into halftime. 

The first 20 minutes of the second half saw no additional points added to the scoreboard until the Eagles Airiana Jerz gained possession and placed the ball in the bottom right corner of the net. As the clock approached the final 10 minutes of the game, Niceville High School freshman Abbey Kuritz scored the game’s final goal after taking a successful shot from the top of the 18-yard box. The game was concluded with an impressive save by goalkeeper Chloe Aldrich on a Mosley penalty kick, securing a 5-0 win over the Dolphins for the Eagles. 

Reflecting on the significant win over Mosley, Coach Richard Moore noted that “[the players] connected their passes more and kept it crisp…the communication was actually on point this game [which] was one thing that we needed to work on as a whole entire team, and I think we saw a difference.”
