The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office arrested a former Niceville High School student who brought a loaded handgun into the area between Niceville High School and Ruckel Middle School.

An OCSO deputy took the 16-year-old into custody on a charge of possessing a firearm on school grounds after the deputy found a loaded 9mm handgun in the student’s pants waistband around 11:15 AM.

The School Resource Officer received a report that the individual, who no longer attends Niceville High School, had flashed a firearm at a city park off-campus.

The SRO saw the former student and approached him – that is when the deputy discovered the gun.

The related investigation also led to the discovery of marijuana during a vehicle search. Another 16-year-old was charged with possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia.
