Facebook commentators aplenty have made note of the fact that the current city sidewalk, which ends at 11th Street did not meet up with the Okaloosa County Half-Cent Sales Tax project on Redwood from John Sims Parkway to Valparaiso Boulevard, which is wrapping up soon.

At last month’s City Council and County Commissioners meeting – both entities agreed to split the costs of linking the two sidewalks. The total cost of the project weighs in at about $180,000.

Good News: The project to link the two sidewalks is underway, according to Okaloosa County Public Information Officer, April Sarver. Concrete pouring could be as little as a week away – depending on the weather.
