Free Pet Adoptions Coming to Crestview

In Brief:

Petco Love’s MEGA Adoption Event comes to Crestview and Pensacola June 27–29. Crestview Animal Services will waive adoption fees as part of a statewide effort to find homes for 2,000 pets.

Crestview Animal Services is teaming up with Petco Love and dozens of Florida animal shelters to find loving homes for 2,000 cats and dogs during the Florida MEGA Adoption Event, taking place June 27 through 29.

The event, powered by Petco Love and supported by the Jacksonville Humane Society’s Florida Leaders in Lifesaving program, will span three days and involve nearly 50 organizations across 31 counties. All adoption fees will be waived at participating locations, and every animal will be spayed or neutered and up to date on vaccinations.

In Crestview, adoptions will be held at the city’s Animal Services location on North Ferdon Boulevard. Locals can meet adoptable pets on:

  • Friday, June 27: 11 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.

  • Saturday, June 28: 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.

  • Sunday, June 29: 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Additionally, nearby residents can attend the regional adoption event at the Hadji Shrine Center in Pensacola on Saturday, June 28 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

In 2024, nearly 2,000 Florida pets found new homes through this event. But with the state still ranking 46th nationally in shelter save rates, organizers say the need is urgent. More than 37,000 animals were euthanized in Florida shelters last year.

“There is nothing more powerful than the moment a shelter pet meets their new family,” said Petco Love President Susanne Kogut. “That’s the heart of this incredible statewide event.”

Crestview Civilian Operations Manager Lindsay Garrett added, “This is a great way to try and empty the shelters—not only in our region but across the state.”
