Niceville’s Good Neighbor of the Month: Melissa Kearley!

Melissa Kearley, a proud Niceville native and current principal of Edge Elementary, has been named the Ryan Cabaniss State Farm Agency’s ‘Good Neighbor of the Month’ for September. The award recognizes local community members who go above and beyond in their service, and Kearley’s tireless dedication to her school and community has made her a standout candidate.

Kearley, a graduate of Okaloosa County Public Schools, returned to her hometown after college to give back to the community that shaped her. She now serves as the principal at Edge Elementary, where her leadership has made a remarkable impact. Under her guidance, the school improved from a ‘B’ rating to an ‘A’ on state standardized tests and has maintained that achievement throughout the current academic year.

Amanda Pettis, who nominated Kearley for the award, praised her commitment to both the school and the broader community. “Mrs. Kearley’s commitment to Edge Elementary staff and students is unmatched!” Pettis said. “She is also passionate about getting our community involved in the education and support of students. She’s a product of OCSD and came back to give the community that raised her.”
