Marine veteran Josh Wervey has been named the latest recipient of the Niceville Good Neighbor Award. As the Niceville Valparaiso Chamber of Commerce’s events and membership manager, Wervey connects local businesses while balancing his most important role—being a single father dedicated to giving his son every opportunity to succeed.

Sam Hamm, an Amazing Niceville Good Neighbor

n a quiet Niceville neighborhood, Samm Hamm proves that being a good neighbor is really just about being a good person—day in and day out. He was nominated for the Niceville Good Neighbor of the Month award. When asked what advice he’d give about being a good neighbor, Samm’s answer was simple but powerful: “I think probably being a good neighbor is mostly being a good person all the time. It’s not trying to put out the effort to impress somebody… it’s just trying to be a good person all the time”.

Niceville Good Neighbor: Carlos Moreno

While many know Carlos through his 34-year career at UPS, it’s the last 20-plus years spent delivering in Niceville that made him a local icon. In an era of quick interactions, Carlos chose to build what he calls “remarkable relationships.” The impact of his kindness was recently made clear on social media, where a flood of “Word of Mouth” posts praised his dedication and expressed just how much the community would miss seeing him on his rounds.

Niceville Good Neighbor: Susie Green!

Susie Green, concessions chair for the Eagle Pride Band Boosters at Niceville High School, has been named October’s “Good Neighbor” by Mid Bay News for managing all facets of the concession stand, which supports the 200+ member marching band.

Susie Green, a dedicated band mom and volunteer, earned the Niceville Good Neighbor award for her unwavering commitment to supporting local youth through the NHS Eagle Pride Band Boosters.

Niceville Good Neighbor: Mary Wright

Mary Wright has been named the September 2025 recipient of the Ryan Cabaniss State Farm Niceville Good Neighbor Award, nominated by Sandy Sims for her 15+ years leading a volunteer tutoring program at Edge Elementary School. Through the Church on Bayshore, she coordinates sessions for K-2 students, organizes gifts and substitutes, and humbly credits her team for the honor while expressing deep gratitude.
