Niceville Becomes A Winter Wonderland After Record Snow

In Brief:

In less than 24 hours, Mother Nature dropped almost as much snow on Northwest Florida as in the last 100 years combined.

ย

Seven inches of snow total fell from the skies over Niceville between 1927 and 2024 – according to Extreme Weather Watch.

ย

On Jan 21, the National Weather Service in Mobile reported Niceville received 6.5 inches of snow – more than double the record set in 1954 and tied in 1958.

ย

The snow melted off for the most part by friday of the same week – though small mounds where children and families built snowmen in front of houses remained through Sunday.

ย

The following week, Jan 26 through Feb 1., sees the city of Niceville return to temperatures in the 60s and 70s, a slightly warmer climate than Niceville’s average temperature for the winter months.
