🏍️ A 19-year-old motorcyclist was killed after colliding with an SUV turning into a Fort Walton Beach resort.
🚑 A 50-year-old SUV passenger also died, and three others were seriously injured and transported to the hospital.
🚓 No charges are expected, but troopers say speed was a contributing factor in the deadly crash.
FORT WALTON BEACH — A 19-year-old motorcyclist and a 50-year-old woman were killed on July 25 in a collision involving a motorcycle and an SUV on U.S. Highway 98 in Fort Walton Beach, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The crash happened at approximately 9:25 p.m. near the entrance to the Destin West Beach and Bay Resort, located at 1515 Miracle Strip Parkway.
Troopers said the SUV, driven by a 19-year-old man from Fort Worth, Texas, was attempting to turn left from eastbound U.S. 98 into the resort when it was struck on the passenger side by a westbound motorcycle traveling at a high rate of speed.
The motorcyclist, a 19-year-old man from Fort Walton Beach, was pronounced dead at the scene. He was wearing a helmet, troopers said. The 50-year-old woman, a front-seat passenger in the SUV, also died from her injuries..
Two other SUV passengers were transported to Fort Walton Beach Medical Center with serious injuries. Their identities have not been released.
The driver of the SUV was also seriously injured, according to the FHP. All occupants of the SUV were wearing seat belts.
No criminal charges are expected in the crash, investigators said. The names of the deceased were not released pending notification of next of kin.
