Chief David Popwell released Niceville’s October 2022 police statistics for the month of October at the city’s monthly council meeting.
According to Chief Popwell, the department made 14 arrests in the month of October – six felony arrests and eight misdemeanor arrests. You can learn more about the arrests and their locations here. Two DUI arrests were recorded by the department in October. Both incidents took place on John Sims Parkway. Felony arrests continue to decline from their high of 16 in January; Misdemeanor arrests have also, for the most part, continued to decline on the year as well.
Despite the drop in arrests, calls for service are up at the department. The department saw 4100 calls for service – about 800 more than in September and about 600 more than average for the year.
The department also recorded a total of 58 accidents in October as well, totaling about $340,000 in damage. Officers wrote a total of 169 citations and 122 warnings to drivers in the city.
Chief Popwell also noted that there were no serious or out-of-the-ordinary issues on Halloween night – and that people behaved themselves.
