Fort Walton Beach, Fla. — Habitat for Humanity Okaloosa will mark a major milestone in its mission to provide affordable housing in Okaloosa County with the dedication of its 74th and 75th new construction homes on Friday, Oct. 17, 2025, at 2 p.m. The ceremony will take place at 856 Griffith Ave W, Crestview, FL 32539.

Eglin Federal Credit Union, a member-focused financial institution headquartered in Fort Walton Beach, served as a financial partner in the construction of both homes. The credit union, which serves the military community and residents of Walton and Okaloosa counties, was surprised to learn that one of its own employees, Card Services Representative Kassandra Hatten, would be the recipient of the milestone 75th home.

The dedication ceremony will feature a presentation of the home key and remarks from Hatten, Habitat for Humanity Okaloosa Board Chair Frankie Gibbs, and Eglin FCU President and CEO Cathie Staton. Media members are invited to attend for photo opportunities and coverage of this milestone event.

About Habitat for Humanity Okaloosa County
Founded in 1991, Habitat for Humanity Okaloosa County is a nonprofit Christian organization dedicated to eliminating substandard housing and fostering community development. The organization has built over 60 homes, positively impacting more than 120 children and their families. Habitat Okaloosa operates on Christian principles, aiming to “put God’s love into action” by providing affordable homeownership opportunities for families who might otherwise be unable to afford decent housing.

Prospective homeowners contribute “sweat equity” by assisting in the construction of their homes and receive no-interest mortgages along with financial education to ensure long-term sustainability. The organization also operates ReStores in Fort Walton Beach and Crestview, which sell donated furniture, appliances, and building materials. Funds raised through ReStores help cover overhead costs and support home construction projects. Community volunteers of all ages and skill levels play a vital role in Habitat Okaloosa’s mission.
