An 87-year-old man suffered a self-inflicted gunshot at White Wilson Medical Center in Fort Walton Beach.
He was treated on scene and transported to Fort Walton Beach Medical Center by EMS.
Authorities confirmed there is no ongoing threat; the investigation into the incident continues.
FORT WALTON BEACH, Fla. — Fort Walton Beach police officers responded to White Wilson Medical Center, 1005 Mar Walt Drive, Tuesday morning following reports of shots fired. The call came in at approximately 11:07 a.m. on October 21, 2025.
Upon arrival, officers quickly secured the area and worked to ensure the safety of patients, staff, and visitors. The Fort Walton Beach Police Department coordinated with the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office to manage the scene and provide support for the ongoing response.
Officers encountered an 87-year-old male who had suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Emergency personnel rendered aid immediately while police maintained control of the scene and coordinated with Okaloosa County EMS for transportation to Fort Walton Beach Medical Center, where the individual is currently receiving treatment.
Police emphasized that securing the safety of the public and the medical center was a primary focus. “Our officers acted quickly to secure the area and coordinate with our partners at the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office to ensure the safety of everyone involved,” a spokesperson said.
Investigators are reviewing the circumstances surrounding the incident. Authorities confirmed there is no indication of an ongoing threat to the public or the medical center. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.
