A Bay County woman was arrested last week on a warrant related to a fatal hit-and-run crash in Walton County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP).
Heather Dickison was taken into custody on March 28, 2025, on charges of leaving the scene of a crash involving death. In a release, FHP Captain Jason King said the charges stem from a March 6, 2024, incident in which Dickison was identified as the driver of a 2018 Ram 1500 that struck and killed a pedestrian on U.S. Highway 98.
According to FHP, the victim was a jogger from Santa Rosa Beach who regularly ran along the north shoulder of the highway. The investigation determined that the Ram traveled off the roadway, crossed the north fog line, and struck the jogger. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities said the jogger was wearing reflective clothing at the time of the crash.
The driver fled the scene, but an investigation by the FHP Traffic Homicide Division led to the identification of both the vehicle and Dickison as the driver. A warrant was issued for her arrest in Walton County, but authorities said she failed to turn herself in.
On March 28, law enforcement conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle occupied by Dickison and took her into custody. She is awaiting extradition to Walton County.
