WALTON COUNTY, Fla. — Visitors and locals heading to South Walton’s beaches will soon have more parking relief and easier access to the sand.
Walton County Tourism will officially launch expanded Beach Tram routes on March 1, connecting municipal parking facilities to popular regional beach accesses in an effort to ease congestion and reduce parking strain along Scenic 30A corridors.
Transportation officials say the program has been years in development.
“This program has been years in the making,” said Tabatha Bolen, transportation manager for Walton County Tourism. “The entire team has put so much work into making it what it has become. It is exciting to be part of a program that provides a needed service that truly benefits our guests, both visitors and the local community.”
Two municipal parking facilities will anchor the initial expansion:
1668 S. County Hwy. 393
Beginning March 1:
A-to-B Route: Direct service to Ed Walline Regional Beach Access every 10 minutes
West Route: Stops at Dune Allen RBA and Fort Panic RBA every 15 minutes
Hours: Daily from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
1505 S. County Hwy. 283
The existing A-to-B route currently runs from 6 a.m. to 9:45 p.m., providing direct service every 10 minutes to the corner of Hotz Avenue and Garfield Street.
Starting March 1, Grayton Central will add:
West Route: Stops at Blue Mountain RBA, Gulfview Heights RBA, and 393 MPF
Departure: Every 15 minutes
Hours: 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Officials say route details and updates will be centralized at WaltonTransportation.com.
A third municipal lot — Driftwood Road MPF — will be added once construction is complete. Planned service includes a direct route to Miramar RBA along with additional stops along Scenic Gulf Drive. Final details are still pending.
County leaders say the long-term goal is to provide smoother beach access while reducing roadside parking pressure during peak tourism seasons.
