Niceville, Freeport, and Crestview Kids Learn Selflessness at This Summer Event

Heat, humidity, and gnats are the three guarantees for a June in Florida. Steve Schutt hopes that as Crosspoint Church’s annual service outreach, Mission Northwest, enters its 14th year, it will continue as the fourth constant for Niceville in June. Schutt, along with other volunteers, will lead 275 children in grades 5-12 in service projects around the Florida Panhandle, helping non-profits and fostering a lifetime commitment to serving others and empathy.

City Council Approves School Zone Speeding Cameras Plan

City Manager David Deitch’s plan for speed cameras around schools gets unanimous approval from Niceville City Council. The initiative aims to improve road safety, targeting areas around Ruckel Middle School, Niceville High School, and SR-85 near Edge Elementary School.

All But One Niceville/Valparaiso School Earns an A From Florida Department of Education

Collegiate High School and Niceville High School emerged as academic powerhouses, outperforming state standards in standardized testing, college readiness, and graduation rates. Okaloosa STEMM Academy and Ruckel Middle School also stood out, securing top spots in the middle school rankings, while elementary schools Edge, Plew, and Bluewater maintained their A ratings.

Kearley Named Principal At Edge Elementary

Niceville native Melissa Kearley will serve as the next principal of Edge Elementary in the 2022-2023 school year after a unanimous vote by the Okaloosa County School Board.
