Northwest Florida Ballet is among numerous arts organizations statewide facing budget shortfalls due to Governor Ron DeSantis’s veto of $32 million in funding for Florida’s Cultural Museum and Cultural Facilities grants. Todd Eric Allen, CEO and Creative Director of Northwest Florida Ballet, expressed concerns about the severe impact on local arts. Despite the challenging financial landscape, Allen urged patrons to increase their support to help sustain the Ballet’s operations.
Niceville Man Arrested For Battery in Dispute Over Pride Flags

Niceville Police arrested 43-year-old Michael McLeod for battery after an incident involving stolen LGBTQ+ flags outside Niceville High School. Activist Sunny Barbee confronted McLeod, leading to a physical altercation captured on video. Despite the tension, Barbee praised the professionalism of the Niceville Police. McLeod is currently awaiting a hearing and remains in custody.
