South Walton’s brand new stadium attracted a near whole house to watch the Seahawks dish out a good old-fashioned beatdown on the Gulf Breeze Dolphins 35-6 to open their season.

Skydivers delivered the game ball in style from the air to inaugurate the new, multimillion-dollar stadium.

The overhaul meant the entire 2024 season was effectively played at home, which meant lots of pent-up angst over a 2-8 campaign flowed out onto the field for the first contest of the 2025 campaign.

The Seahawks started methodically, taking up a lion’s share of the first quarter to march down the field and score on the Dolphins, with the help of some 4th down trickery to seal the deal.

Junior quarterback JD Brown would spend most of the night heaving bombs all around the gridiron, making some hard-nosed runs to establish the ground game and get seven points on the board before finally handing the ball over to Gulf Breeze for their shot at the end zone.

The defense gave a little at the beginning of the drive – but would eventually hold up and ensure a goose egg on the new jumbotron under Gulf Breeze’s name for the half.

After more gritty play, Brown, Wide Receiver Brody Trout, and running back Gabe Parenton decided to open up the game and expose the subpar secondary play from Gulf Breeze.

By the end of the night, the Breezers would give up two 50+ yard touchdown passes, including the bomb we caught from the Mid Bay News Drone, which you can see below.

At the beginning of the second half, the officials would start the running clock and make it an early bus ride home for the Dolphins.

With a massive win over a bigger classification team, it’s another notch in Head Coach Phil Tisa’s Belt.

“It doesn’t matter what size school you are,” Tisa said after the win as the band played, “If you go out and execute, and you do things the right way, you can be successful. ”

The Seahawks will host Fort Walton Beach High School Next week and are favored to win that contest as well – meaning they match last year’s win totals in just two weeks.

As for Gulf Breeze, they look to have a long year ahead of them. Their schedule includes local teams like Milton Mosley, Niceville, Navarre, and Pace.
