Recount in District 3 Race Scheduled for Saturday

In Brief:

  • A recount is set for the Okaloosa County District 3 Commissioner race, with only 13 votes separating Keri Pitzer and Sherri Cox.
  • The recount is mandatory as the margin between the candidates falls within one half of one percent.
  • Both candidates have shared their perspectives on the ongoing process, with Pitzer remaining determined and Cox acknowledging the recount on social media.

An official recount will take place in the Okaloosa County District 3 Commissioner race, according to Okaloosa Supervisor of Elections Paul Lux.

The recount must take place if the results of an election fall within one half of one percent between the winner of the election and the runner up.

As of Tuesday Evening, only 13 votes separate local business woman Keri Pitzer and Republican Party activist Sherri Cox.

On Thursday, Keri Pitzer spoke to Mid Bay News about the close race. “You know, you gotta trust the process,” Pitzer said, “And if I’ve learned anything in this political race, there’s a lot of processes. So this District 3 race has not been easy. So why would I think election night and going through this process would be any easier? Let’s just keep the battle going.”

Sherri Cox made a post to her facebook page where she noted that the election was not yet over due to the recount.

We have placed multiple calls to her listed phone number and sent text messages and emails. We will update the story to include her comments if she responds.
