The Okaloosa County School District announced monday morning they will cancel school and other school-related activities like sports and clubs for Tuesday, January 9th, 2024.
“After consulting with Okaloosa County Director of Public Safety Patrick Maddox, the Okaloosa County School District is cancelling after school activities today and closing schools Tuesday, January 9th in the best interest of the safety of students and staff. There is an Enhanced Risk for severe weather that will produce strong thunderstorms, severe winds with gusts up to 70 mph, and the possibility of tornadoes in the EF2+ category. Wind gusts later this afternoon and this evening will approach 40 mph.”

The School District noted in a press release that school will release at a normal time on Monday, January 8th, 2024 – but all after school activities, such as extracirriculars and tutoring will not take place.
Okaloosa County Schools will resume on January 10th.
