Deputies charge one suspect with an additional crime as well.

Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office conducted an undercover operation called “Operation April’s Fools” in April, targeting adults who were trying to meet minors online for sexual encounters. The operation was carried out by the Special Investigations Section of the Sheriff’s Office as part of its ongoing efforts to protect children from predators.

The suspects who were targeted in this operation traveled to a predetermined location with the intention of meeting juveniles for sexual encounters, but they were instead taken into custody by the Sheriff’s Office deputies. The operation resulted in the arrests of seven individuals, namely Thomas Cole, Dominic Boddie, Shane Donaldson, Joshua Rouege, David Lanier, Jose Nolasco-Benitez, and Jeffrey Pakusch.

These individuals have been charged with traveling to meet a minor for sex, using a computer to solicit a minor for sex, and using a two-way communication device to commit a felony. Donaldson, in addition to these charges, is facing an additional charge of promoting sexual performance by a child.

During the operation, investigators also seized a 2021 Chevrolet Silverado truck from the suspects. The Sheriff’s Office has been proactive in its efforts to protect children from sexual predators, and this operation is part of its ongoing commitment to keep children safe.

The Sheriff’s Office has urged parents and guardians to monitor their children’s online activities and report any suspicious behavior to the authorities. The Sheriff’s Office also reminds the public that anyone who engages in such activities will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
