Okaloosa County announced in a press release on Tuesday afternoon that it prevailed in a lawsuit brought by Destin helicopter tour operator Timberview Helicopters.
Okaloosa County terminated the agreement between The County and Timberview Helicopters in 2021. The court determined in this appeal that Okaloosa County gave notice of termination with at least 60 days’ notice – which was required by the contract.
Judge William F Stone of the 1st Judicial Circuit Court made a final ruling on July 29 in Fort Walton Beach that the County “gave notice of the termination of the contract ‘far in excess of what was required by the agreement.'”
Mid Bay News was able to reach a representative of Timberview Helicopters about the lawsuit via telephone. They informed us they would reach out to executives at the company and attempt to connect with them.
Timberview Helicopters lists two Northwest Florida locations on its website—one at the airport and another on a piece of land next to Highway 98 owned by Real Estate Developer Bobby Guidry.
According to its filings with the state, the business lists Justin Johnson as its president and is incorporated in Kansas. The have held an active business license with the state of Florida since 2016.
According to their website, the company operates helicopter tours along the Emerald Coast, Orlando and Kissimmee and Galveston, Texas.
