Okaloosa County Mosquito Control Program has announced their detailed plan for mosquito control this year, covering various regions on specific days of the week to ensure effective treatment and reduce mosquito populations. The schedule includes spraying, larviciding, and the use of gambusia fish, with guidelines for residents to protect themselves during peak mosquito activity.

Okaloosa County Mosquito Control Announces 2024 Treatment Schedule

Okaloosa County Mosquito Control Program unveiled its detailed schedule for pesticide spraying to control mosquitoes across the county.

Here is this year’s treatment schedule.

Weekly Treatment Schedule:

Mondays:
- North County: Areas from County Road 4A to Escambia Farms to Hwy 189 East, and Crestview regions.
- South County: Wynnehaven Beach, Florosa, Valparaiso, and parts of Destin.
Tuesdays:
- North County: Includes Garden City Area, Baker, Holt, and Crestview sections.
- South County: Encompasses Airport Rd to Destin Bridge, Mary Esther, Fort Walton Beach, and Bluewater Bay areas.
Wednesdays:
- North County: Covers Holt, Baker, and additional areas of Crestview.
- South County: Focuses on streets off Lewis Turner Blvd, Rocky Bayou, and parts of Fort Walton Beach.
Thursdays:
- North County: Includes Auburn Rd to Poverty Creek Rd, Baker, and Crestview regions.
- South County: Encompasses Shalimar, Ocean City, Mooney Rd area, and Niceville.

Okaloosa County representatives ask that you stay inside during peak mosquito activity (sunrise and sunset), wearing protective clothing (long sleeves and pants), using mosquito repellent with DEET, and ridding areas of standing water where mosquitoes can breed.

The County’s Mosquito Control Program operates during specific hours before sunset and/or after sunrise, excluding federal and state-owned land. In addition to spraying, the program includes larviciding and the use of gambusia fish to control mosquito larvae.
