Edgar Enrique Nunez was sentenced on February 3, 2025, by Circuit Judge David Oberliesen to 25 years in state prison, followed by 20 years of Sex Offender Probation with a GPS monitor. He was also designated a Sexual Predator and will be required to register as such for life.

Nunez pleaded guilty to charges of Sexual Battery while in a Position of Custodial or Parental Authority and Lewd or Lascivious Molestation of a Victim between 12 and 15 years old. The case involved a 13-year-old victim who was living in Nunez’s home at the time of the abuse.

According to the investigation, the abuse occurred while the victim’s mother was at work, with Nunez acting as the child’s caretaker. The victim did not initially report the abuse due to threats made by Nunez. The situation came to light when the victim’s mother observed him leaving her daughter’s room late at night. Following the child’s disclosure, law enforcement was contacted, and authorities took the victim to the Emerald Coast Children’s Advocacy Center for a forensic interview.
