OCSO Investigates I-10 Overpass Projectile Attack

In Brief:

The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a case where concrete and eggs were thrown from the Wilkerson Bluff overpass onto Interstate 10 near Holt. Three commercial vehicles were struck and one passenger sustained minor injuries.

The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office is searching for the person or people who threw concrete and eggs from an overpass onto Interstate 10 early Wednesday morning, injuring a passenger and damaging several commercial vehicles.

The projectiles rained down around 12:30 a.m. from the Wilkerson Bluff overpass near Holt. Three commercial trucks were hit by the debris.

One passenger received minor injuries, but none of the drivers required medical treatment, deputies said.

Investigators say the incident could have been far worse. Hurling heavy objects at fast-moving vehicles is not only illegal but extremely dangerous — with the potential to cause severe crashes, injuries, or death.

The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office is asking the public for help identifying those responsible. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Sheriff’s Office at 850-651-7400 or submit tips anonymously through Emerald Coast Crime Stoppers at 850-863-TIPS, emeraldcoastcrimestoppers.com, or via the P3 Tips app.
