Niceville Woman Credits This Chore For Helping Her Reach 104th Birthday.

Lillian Fowler marked a remarkable milestone on July 31, celebrating her 104th birthday surrounded by family, friends, and fellow parishioners at Christ Our Redeemer Catholic Church. The celebration took place in the church’s fellowship hall following the 10:30 a.m. Mass, where Fowler is a regular attendee and has been for decades.

Born and raised in Lafayette, Louisiana, Fowler is the second youngest of eight siblings. She met her late husband, Ollie Fowler, while attending college in Lafayette. The couple married before Ollie began his career in the U.S. Air Force, a journey that eventually brought them to Northwest Florida in 1981 after his retirement.

During her birthday celebration, Fowler reflected on her longevity with characteristic humility. “It doesn’t feel any different to be 104,” she shared with Mid Bay News on August 11, 2024.

When asked about the secret to her long life, Fowler credited her love for yard work and gardening with a fondness for flowers. Despite her age, she remains active and is already planning her next gardening project. “This year, I plan to completely re-do my flower beds,” she said, smiling.

Fowler’s dedication to her community, family, and hobbies continues to inspire those around her as she enters her 105th year with the same spirit and determination that has defined her life for over a century.
