Niceville’s City Manager revealed his proposal for the City’s strategic plan at their regular meeting on March 10.
While the council will not vote until April on whether they will officially accept the plan, the draft document gives insight into the direction city bureaucrats want to take the City – provided the council approves.
City Manager David Deitch says he and his team began working on the document about a year and a half ago when he was hired to replace the outgoing city manager of more than 50 years, Lannie Corbin.
“The strategic plan is vital for a number of reasons. It’s going to help us decide where our energy and resources go,” Deitch told the council, “It’s also an accountability tool. It provides direction, goals, vision and strategy from the council to me and my team. With a strategic plan, we’ll be able to provide you monthly or, quarterly or annual progress reports to show how we are moving forward to achieve the strategic plan.”
The strategic plan outlines the City’s proposed vision and mission statement, core values, and goals for the future.
The strategic plan document was created in collaboration with Northwest Florida State College‘s Institute of Senior Professionals. The group conducted interviews with city council members and key bureaucrats in the city hierarchy and collated information from more than 500 resident surveys.
