Niceville High School Principal Named Regional Director for Education Leadership Group

Niceville High School Principal Charlie Marello has been appointed the Northwest Florida Regional Director for the Florida Association of Secondary School Principals (FASSP), the Okaloosa County School District announced.

FASSP, a division of the Florida Association of School Administrators, supports secondary school leaders across the state. The organization provides professional development, resources, and advocacy for school administrators.

Marello has served as a secondary school principal for 15 years. He is in his ninth year at Niceville High School, following three years as principal at Destin Middle School and three years at Emerald Coast Middle School in Walton County.

“After 15 years as a secondary school principal, I’ve been fortunate to gain lots of experience trying to effectively lead, manage, and survive all different types of situations,” Marello said. “If I can be of service to the FASSP by sharing or helping others through the knowledge I’ve gained, the lessons I’ve learned, or the mistakes I’ve made, I’m more than happy to do so.”

Okaloosa County School District Superintendent Marcus Chambers praised Marello’s appointment, citing his leadership and contributions to education in the region.

“Charlie Marello is an outstanding leader who has made a tremendous impact on students, teachers, and the community,” Chambers said. “His dedication to excellence in education and his ability to mentor and support fellow administrators make him the perfect choice for this role.”

As regional director, Marello will work with school leaders across Northwest Florida, advocate for secondary education, and contribute to professional development efforts for administrators.
