The queens are coming to Niceville.

The Niceville High School Theatre Department is kicking off 2025 with a high-energy, pop-infused twist on history, preparing to stage SIX — the international musical sensation that reimagines the six wives of Henry VIII as modern-day pop royalty.

The show, created by Toby Marlow and Lucy Moss and produced with permission from Concord Theatricals of NYC, takes the familiar Tudor tale and turns it into a 70-minute, no-intermission concert where each queen grabs the mic to tell her side of the story. Catherine of Aragon, Anne Boleyn, Jane Seymour, Anna of Cleves, Katherine Howard, and Catherine Parr battle it out — not for a king’s attention, but for the crowd’s.

To add an extra layer of flair, the NHS has also incorporated six footmen to help bring the queens’ musical numbers to life.

Since first debuting at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, SIX has become a global phenomenon with Olivier Award nominations, a Tony Award for Best Original Score, and a massive international fanbase. Its blend of historical storytelling, humor, and girl-group pop has given the show universal appeal.

Director Ritchie Jackson says the production is unlike anything NHS Theatre has tackled before.

SIX is unlike anything else in musical theatre today, and a true departure from the kind of shows we have produced in the past,” Jackson said. “It’s fast, funny, fierce, and our cast is bringing incredible power to these iconic queens. Audiences are going to love every minute. The accompanying light show is a spectacle in and of itself. You’ll feel like you are at a real concert.”

Jackson is leading the production alongside Choreographer Nicci Fahle and Vocal Director Arianna Reyher.

“We are the perfect team,” Jackson added. “Nicci and I have worked together for years, and Ari was the perfect choice to bolster the female vocals for this show.”

The musical is recommended for PG-13 audiences. General admission tickets are $20, while $25 VIP tickets include a free small popcorn, a bottle of water, and early entry—ten minutes before general admission seating begins.

Fans should also take note: closing night on Jan. 24 will be a designated sing-along performance, permitting superfans to belt their favorite numbers right from their seats.
