Stadium Talk named the Niceville High School Cheerleading Team the #7 cheerleading team in the United States in an August 5th article.
The site rated the schools based on their score from the 2022 national cheerleading championships.
Article author Brittany Alexandra Sulc says that Head Coach Tanya Herndon has led her team of “strong, well-rounded athletes and positive influences.” Herndon has coached the team since 2017.
The site also cited the fact that the team has its own website (here) as one of the factors that went into the team’s rating.
According to Stadium Talk, the team hosted “nine hours of intense tryouts” to select the team this year.
Four teams from Florida made the top 15 list for this year, but Niceville was the highest-ranked of the group. Hagerty High School in Oviedo and Bartram Trail High School in St. John’s County tied for 15th. Both teams received 79.6 points.
Winter Park High School, just outside of Orlando, tied for 13th place with a score of 83.4 points.
Niceville took the spot as the best-ranked cheer squad in Florida with a score of 90 points.
