Ascension Sacred Heart Emerald Coast has added a new cardiologist to its medical team, expanding access to heart care for patients in Walton County.
Darin Busby, MD, has joined Ascension Sacred Heart Cardiology – Miramar Beach. His office is located in the Medical Office Building on the Sacred Heart Emerald Coast campus at 7720 U.S. 98, Suite 110.
Busby is board-certified in cardiology and specializes in cardiovascular disease and internal medicine. He completed his fellowship in Cardiovascular Diseases and residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Mississippi Medical Center, where he also earned his medical degree.
His arrival adds to what Ascension Sacred Heart describes as the largest heart care team in Walton County. The team includes four physicians, including a cardiac electrophysiologist and two interventional cardiologists, along with four mid-level providers specializing in cardiology.
The expansion comes as heart disease and related conditions remain a significant health concern in the area.
“12% of adults in Walton County have been told they have heart disease, heart attack, or stroke,” said Claudia Emami, MD, MPH, MBA, FACS, chief medical officer for Sacred Heart Emerald Coast.
“Increasing access to cardiology care will help more people manage chronic conditions to reduce their risks and improve their quality of life,” Emami said.
Busby will provide comprehensive care for patients with heart and vascular conditions, while also treating general adult medical needs.
Appointments are currently available with Busby. Patients interested in scheduling an appointment or seeking a second opinion can call 850-267-1603.
Ascension Sacred Heart, based in Pensacola, operates five hospitals and more than 100 other sites of care throughout the region. The health system employs more than 6,440 associates and provided more than $193 million in community benefit and other care for vulnerable people during fiscal year 2024.
