Anime fans and families are gearing up for the debut of HizashiCon, a two-day celebration of Japanese animation and culture, happening November 8-9, 2024, as part of Pensacolaโs Foo Foo Festival. Organized by the Japan-America Society of Northwest Florida, the convention promises a weekend packed with concerts, cosplay, and appearances from renowned voice actors.
The event kicks off on Friday, November 8, with a Vocaloid/J-Pop concert featuring animated digital projections at Wesley Abbey. Trickle, an online J-Pop sensation, will make his live performance debut. The main convention takes place on Saturday, November 9, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Wright Place in downtown Pensacola, offering a variety of activities for anime fans of all ages.
Voice actor guests include Jack Stansbury, known for his role in Oshi no Ko, Demon Slayer star Stephen Fu, and Xanthe Huynh, the voice of Haru Okumura from Persona 5. Attendees can also enjoy a cosplay contest, maid cafรฉ, idol fest, and various arts and crafts vendors. An afterparty will be held at the Handlebar following the convention on Saturday.
Advance tickets are on sale at animepensacola.com for $25, with discounts available for students, children, and Japan-America Society members. Prices are set to increase after the first 100 tickets are sold.
