Walton County’s former County Administrator Quinn Robertson was arrested earlier this month and charged with interception of oral communication and disrupting or denying the ability to transmit data on computer systems. Former Walton Deputy County Adminstrator and host of the popular City Manager Unfiltered Podcast, Joseph Turner was also served a notice to appear at his home in Wichita, Kansas by the Walton County Sheriff’s Office in the same case.
On his LinkedIn page, Turner shared his side of the story. “I am innocent and will vigorously seek to clear my name,” he said about his arrest and the case.
On his post, which you can see here, Turner said he and Robertson “came into possession of an iPad owned by the county. In conjunction with other information we had obtained, we observed on this device what we believed to be a coordinated act of a criminal nature. Together, we reported this to the Walton County Sheriff’s Office in December 2023. It now appears that this has been weaponized against us.”

The interception of oral communications charge is a third-degree felony. The second charge is a second-degree felony. “I know that some people who I consider friends and supporters are going to abandon me. And I know my haters and detractors are going to weaponize this information against me. It is to be expected. To those who continue to stand with me. Thank you.”
The Walton County Sheriff’s Office made Robertson’s arrest on March 4 – but turned the case over to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement. In a statement released by the Walton County Sheriff’s Office, Public Information Officer Corey Dobridnia said, “The Walton County Sheriff’s Office took the original complaints regarding this case. However, to avoid impropriety, Walton County Sheriff’s Office deferred the case to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement. At this time, it is still an active case,”
Robertson has initiated a civil lawsuit against the Walton County Board of County Commissioners for wrongful termination. The suit stems from his firing last year. Robertson had been at the county for six months before the Commission voted to terminate his employment. County Commissioner Danny Glidewell cited a claim that Robertson told department heads not ot meet with County Commissioners as a reason to vote for his termination.
The Commission will vote at their March 24, 2025, meeting on a measure requiring commission approval for new department head hires.
We’ve reached out to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement for the full arrest affidavit narrative and have not yet heard back. This is a developing story, which we will update as we get more information. We’ve also reached out to Robertson and Turner via social media regarding this matter. If we hear back, we will add to the story as well.
