Eglin Elementary, the Kindergarten through fourth grade Okaloosa County School on Eglin Air Force Base, will have a new assistant principal this August. Assistant Principal Darren Everidge will take over the second chair at the school. 

Everidge is an Alabama native with backelors degrees in Elementary Education and Theater. He earned his master’s degree in Educational Leadership from George Mason University in 2018. 

The Okaloosa County School Board unanimously approved his appointment on Monday, Jun 12, 2023.  

Everidge has had plenty of experience in the classroom. He served as an administrator for an alternative school recovery program and an administrator for ESY at a middle school. 

He comes to Eglin Elementary from Eliot Point Elementary, where he served as the dean of students. 

“I’d like to thank all of my friends and family, ranging from Alabama to Washington, D.C. Without their love and support, none of this would be possible,” Everidge added, “Coming from a military family, where my grandad served in the army and my dad served in the Air Force, along with myself being a military spouse – it’s my honor to serve those who’ve served us as the new Assistant Principal at Eglin Elementary.”
