Scott Brannon, the Walton County Director of Governmental Coordination, was booked into the Walton County Jail and charged with misdemeanor battery on May 14. The Walton County Clerk’s Office shows a case filed against Brannon for Battery/Domestic Violence.
An arrest affidavit from the Walton County Sheriff’s Office states that Brannon’s live-in girlfriend claimed he “grabbed her face and struck her twice in the face with an open hand. [The Victim] stated the strikes caused her lower lip to bleed.”
Deputies saw the fresh blood on her face and a visible injury to her lower lip – she told deputies that this was not the first incidence of domestic violence between her and Scott.
We reached out to the Walton County Board of County Commissioners Public Information Office to ask questions about the situation. We were told that the Walton County Board of County Commissioners does not comment on personnel matters.
Critics of Brannon, including former Deputy County Administrator Joseph Turner, accuse Brannon of working a no-show job he was given as patronage. Turner claims on social media that Brannon is a “no show” at his job, citing badge-access reporters. Mid Bay News has not been able to independently verify that Brannon has missed work.
Brannon is also a former Walton County Commissioner. In 2012, he was cleared of violating ethics rules by Florida’s Ethics Board by voting on the Driftwood Estates Subdivision.
Walton Clerk of Courts Documents show that Brannon is ordered to appear at the County Courthouse on June 1 in front of Judge Kelvin Wells.
