The Secretary of Defense, Lloyd J. Austin, announced former Eglin Air Force Base Commander Brigadier General Scott Cain would be nominated for promotion to Major General.
All general officer nominations are made by President Joseph R. Biden.

After his three-year tour of duty at Eglin Air Force Base, from 2019-2022, Cain became the director of Air, Space and Cyberspace Operations, Headquarters Air Force Material Command. The Command is located at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in the Dayton, Ohio area.
General Scott Cain is a 1995 United States Air Force Academy graduate. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Astronautical Engineering, and he earned his Master’s Degree in Aerospace Engineering at CU-Boulder in 2003. He graduated from weapons school and test pilot school while serving as a pilot in the Air Force.
His past assignments have included training pilots, classified missions, and a stint at the Eisenhower School in Washington, D.C.
He has flown 41 different aircraft and has 2,800+ hours of flight time. Those planes include the F-35 Lightning, the F-16 Falcon and the F-117 Nighthawk.
