Emerald Coast Open Helps Control Invasive Lionfish

The Emerald Coast Open lionfish tournament, held from May 17-19, saw divers remove 11,844 invasive lionfish from the Gulf of Mexico throughout the event. Participants competed for $125,000 in prizes, with winners including VJL Seafood, Deep Water Mafia El Gato Negro, Lookin’ Back, and Bob Brown. The tournament also featured the Lionfish Festival and Restaurant Week, promoting conservation and culinary innovation with lionfish dishes.

New Opportunities For NWFSC and FAMU Pharmacy Students

New opportunities will soon be available to Northwest Florida State College students. Dr. Larose, the Founding Campus Dean, Director, and Professor of Pharmacy Practice at Florida A&M University (FAMU) College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences Institute of Public Health, Durell Peaden, Jr. Rural Pharmacy Education Campus in Crestview, recently announced that FAMU College of Pharmacy and NWFSC will soon sign a 2+4 Articulation Agreement.

The agreement will provide FAMU pharmacy students with on-campus housing at NWFSC and ensure that NWFSC students are smoothly admitted into FAMU College of Pharmacy.

The 58th Fighter Squadron will perform night flying operations over Eglin Air Force Base and surrounding areas on May 20-22 between 8 p.m. and 11 p.m. Night flying is an essential requirement for the 58th Fighter Squadron training operations.
