A military medical case under investigation raises serious questions, and officials are now asking if there are more victims.

Allegations of Patient Abuse at Eglin AFB Spark Civil Investigation

In Brief:

  • The Carlson Law Firm is investigating alleged misconduct at Eglin Air Force Base hospital.
  • A service member claims improper and non-consensual contact during a medical procedure.
  • Attorneys are seeking additional potential victims and reviewing systemic concerns.

An investigation is underway at Eglin Air Force Base after a national law firm said it is pursuing potential civil claims involving alleged sexual misconduct and patient abuse tied to medical care at the base’s hospital.

According to a press release issued by The Carlson Law Firm, the firm is representing an active-duty service member who alleges she was sexually assaulted during a medical procedure in early 2025 at the 96th Medical Group Hospital at Eglin Air Force Base in Florida.

The firm says it is also investigating whether additional patients may have experienced similar conduct or systemic failures in how complaints were handled within the military medical system.

⚖️ Allegations Under Investigation

The unnamed client reportedly underwent what was described as a routine outpatient procedure when she alleges a physician, identified in the claim as Major Joseph Cook, engaged in non-consensual contact during the exam.

The allegations include claims of improper medical conduct, lack of informed consent, and concerns about hygiene protocols during the procedure.

According to the law firm, military prosecutors later declined to pursue a court-martial despite acknowledging aspects of the investigation.

🏥 Call for Other Patients to Come Forward

Attorney William Rossick, a partner with The Carlson Law Firm, said the case raises broader concerns about patient safety and accountability.

“No patient should leave a medical appointment questioning whether they were violated,” Rossick said. “If similar incidents have occurred, those patients deserve to be heard.”

The firm is now encouraging other current or former patients treated at Eglin Air Force Base who may have experienced inappropriate conduct or similar concerns to come forward.

🔍 Broader Investigation Continues

The Carlson Law Firm says it is continuing to investigate potential civil claims involving institutional oversight, patient abuse allegations, and possible systemic failures within military healthcare reporting structures.

Officials at the base did not respond to requests for comment before publication.
