Hundreds of Niceville fans packed the bleachers around Niceville’s diamond to watch superb defense play at home plat and on the baselines.
Landon Hawkins brought in the game’s only run in the middle innings with a line drive that saw him out at first on the same play.
Jake Morvay is now 5-1 with a save.
Despite a nine-hit game, the Eagles defense carried the field and held them from home plate – just barely.
The squad hustles a defensive out at home plate to keep the game even at zero – aided by the roar of a huge high school home crowd.
The Eagles will play again at home Thursday night in their second game in a best-of-three series.
Should they fail to close it out on Thursday, Niceville will host a third game on Saturday, May 10.
