Heads up, Freeport: CHELCO’s office is moving!

FREEPORT, Fla. – Choctawhatchee Electric Cooperative (CHELCO) has announced it is relocating its Freeport service center. In a press release issued Monday, the cooperative stated its office, currently housed in Freeport City Hall, will move to a new location at 359 Co. Hwy. 83A West. The move is scheduled to take place this week.

According to the utility, the current office will close to the public at noon on Monday, Aug. 24. The new location is slated to open at 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 25. CHELCO listed the new office’s operating hours as 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. every other Friday.

The cooperative also noted a transition period for its payment kiosks. A new kiosk at the Co. Hwy. 83A West location will reportedly begin service on Aug. 25. The existing kiosk at Freeport City Hall will remain operational until Sept. 1. CHELCO claims to be a not-for-profit cooperative serving over 76,000 accounts in Okaloosa, Walton, Holmes, and Santa Rosa counties.
