NICEVILLE — History was made at the FHSAA Class 1A State Championship meet as the girls 4×800-meter relay team from Rocky Bayou Christian School raced their way into the record books, earning the program’s first-ever state championship in a relay event.
The quartet of Karissa Rossell (10th grade), Selah Gayle (8th grade), Kayla Keener (12th grade), and Ruth Alldredge (10th grade) delivered a standout performance on May 6 at the University of North Florida, clocking a winning time of 9:28.81 to secure the state title.
For senior Kayla Keener, the victory marked a fitting final chapter to her high school career. Keener, the only senior on the relay squad, plans to continue her running career at Union University, where she will compete in cross country.
The championship effort caps a milestone moment for the RBCS track program, highlighting both emerging talent and seasoned leadership on one of the biggest stages in Florida high school athletics.
