WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Ohio — Lt. Gen. Linda S. Hurry has been confirmed as the new Commander of Air Force Materiel Command (AFMC), following her nomination by the President and confirmation by the U.S. Senate. Her appointment became effective Jan. 30.

Hurry previously served as AFMC’s Deputy Commander beginning in January 2024 and assumed duties as Interim Commander in July 2025 after the retirement of Gen. Duke Z. Richardson. Her confirmation formalizes leadership of one of the Air Force’s largest and most complex major commands.

As AFMC Commander, Hurry oversees installation and mission support, research and development, test and evaluation, life cycle management, and sustainment for nearly every major Air Force weapon system. The command employs approximately 89,000 civilian and military personnel and manages roughly $81 billion in annual budget authority.

A 1991 graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy, Hurry holds a Master of Science in Logistics Management from the Air Force Institute of Technology and a Master of Arts in National Security and Strategic Studies from the Naval War College. She brings more than three decades of experience across logistics, maintenance, and operational leadership roles, including both stateside and overseas assignments.

Her career includes joint service at U.S. Transportation Command and the Defense Logistics Agency, as well as time as a Secretary of Defense Corporate Fellow with Caterpillar Inc. Before her assignment at AFMC, Hurry served as Director of Logistics at Headquarters U.S. Air Force in the Pentagon.

Officials have not yet announced a replacement for the AFMC Deputy Commander position.
