Head Football Coach KC Woods is stepping down after winning his second straight SSAA state championship.
Woods will remain at Rocky Bayou Christian School as Assistant Principal.
The school has begun its search for the next head football coach.
Rocky Bayou Christian School announced that Head Football Coach KC Woods will step down from his coaching responsibilities following a historic run that includes two consecutive SSAA state championships. Woods will continue in his full-time role as Assistant Principal, a position he has held while leading the football program.
Woods said his decision comes after significant thought and discussion with his family. Balancing administrative duties, a growing football program, and responsibilities at home has prompted him to shift his focus toward his Assistant Principal role and his time with his wife and their two young children.
During his tenure as head coach, Woods played a central role in turning the Knights into a competitive and cohesive program. The team secured back-to-back state championships, increased player participation, and elevated expectations within the school community. Players, families, and staff credited Woods with establishing a steady, disciplined environment that supported both athletic development and character growth.
School administrators noted that Woods’ leadership will continue to be felt on campus. As Assistant Principal, he has taken on a range of responsibilities, including student support, campus operations, and academic oversight. His decision to step back from coaching will allow him to focus fully on those duties and continue contributing to the school’s long-term goals.
Rocky Bayou Christian School will begin an immediate search for the next head football coach. The school will evaluate candidates who can maintain the program’s recent momentum, continue developing student-athletes, and build on the foundation established during Woods’ coaching tenure.
“KC has led this program through a remarkable period, and our football players have benefited from his consistency and high expectations,” school leaders noted. “We are grateful for his work on the field and look forward to his continued impact as Assistant Principal.”
Woods’ transition will take effect as the school moves into preparations for the next football season. RBBCS will share updates on the coaching search as they become available.
Woods addressed the decision in a written statement:
“After much prayer and discussion, I have decided to step away from coaching. After 11 seasons as a Head Football Coach–and some more as an Assistant Coach before that–I feel that it is time.
This decision has not come quickly or lightly. Coaching has been part of my identity for as long as I can remember. It has shaped me, challenged me, and given me some of the proudest moments of my professional and personal life. I have been honored to work with incredible players, dedicated coaches, and communities that love this sport as much as I do.
But over the past few years, it has become increasingly clear that the two jobs I hold at the school—assistant principal and head football coach—are difficult to do in tandem in the way they deserve to be done. Both demand full attention, full energy, and full commitment. And the truth is that there are only so many hours in a day, and I’ve reached a point where I cannot give both roles what they require without something important giving way.
Even more importantly, the entirety of my marriage and my kids’ childhoods has been lived on a football schedule. My wife and children have sacrificed time, weekends, evenings, and countless moments so that I could pour myself into the programs. They have been supportive beyond measure, but it’s time for me to give something back to them. It’s time for me to be more present as a husband and as a father.
I’m deeply grateful to the players who trusted me, the families who supported our programs, the coaches who stood beside me, and the school communities that has given me the privilege to lead. I will carry these relationships and memories for the rest of my life.
Thank you all for the honor of serving as your head coach. And thank you to my family for their love and sacrifice.
Coach Woods”
