Lady Raiders Drop Final to Chipola College in Shellacking

In Brief:

  • 🏀 Who: Northwest Florida State College Lady Raiders and Chipola College Indians
  • 📢 What: Region XIII finals loss for the Lady Raiders, 58-41
  • 📅 When: This week (exact date not specified)
  • 📍 Where: Region XIII Championship game (specific location not provided)
  • ❓ Why: The Lady Raiders struggled with shooting (25% from the field) and turnovers (19 total), leading to a tough defeat against Chipola.

The Northwest Florida State College Lady Raiders made it all the way to the Region XIII finals without a hitch.

Then the wheels fell off in a 58-41 scourging from Chipola that left the Indians, not the Raiders with a Region Championship and an automatic bid to play in the Juco National Tournament in Casper, Wyoming this year.

Chipola College didn’t play well – the Indians shooting from the field hovered around 30% for the whole game.

It’s just that the Lady Raiders had, without a doubt, their worst full-game performance of their whole season.

The team would shoot 25% from the field. The team’s leaders, Neveah Scott, Mekhia Chase, and Deborah Davenport, would hit a combined 7-for-30 from the field.

The ladies would also practice poor ball control – turning the ball over the ball 19 – including eight in the first quarter alone.

While it’s not a guarantee, you can expect to see the Lady Raiders continue into the postseason JuCo national tournament in Casper, Wyoming, later this month.

Details about the tournament have not been posted on the NJCAA websitebut we will update as soon as the information becomes available.
