The Silver Sands School, located in the Fort Walton Beach area, is a special day school for children and young adults between the ages of 3 and 22 who have special needs. The school educates approximately 130 children and adults from Okaloosa and Walton Counties.
The school also has a post-graduate program for adults over the age of 18, which allows people with disabilities to find jobs which interest them and leverage their skill sets. The adults are exposed to working environments both on and off campus.
Students who wish to participate in work programs at the school may pick between one of three enterprises.
Students may help to make Ellison products, which sells gift bag tags, treat tags, bookmarks and notepads, the Twisted Pens Company and a magnet creation occupation.
