Happy Friday everyone!

I’ve got about two minutes to tell you what happened this week – here it goes!

John Sims Parkway Construction

The 285-day milling and resurfacing project that runs from the Rocky Bayou Bridge to just west of Crosspoint in Niceville was delayed before it even started.

We got the info at the Niceville City Council meeting on Tuesday – the contractor doing the project let the city know they are waiting for a notice to proceed from the department of transportation.

Johnathan Laird with Niceville Public Works told the council that it could take a couple of weeks to get.

????????????‍????????????‍????????????‍????Niceville’s Newest Fire Truck.

It’s going to take about 18 more months until the newest fire truck can join Niceville Fire Department’s fleet.

Chief Tommy Mayville says the truck maker in Ohio – like the rest of the industry – faces delays from supply shortages and COVID-19.

The price of the truck, about 636 thousand dollars, was much higher due to inflation.

????????3rd Planet Bonfire

Speaking of fire – looking for something to do tonight?

The 3rd planet annual bonfire is tonight.

They are going to light up a ton of tree stumps, refuse wood and other flammable items.

Niceville’s Fire Department will be there to make sure the fire is controlled.

Next Week

You’ll remember that last week about 100 Val-p residents had a meeting about the 100 year old building that houses the city’s senior center. The group was angry about discussion from the City Commission at their meeting in January concerning whether or not to knock down the building.

The Commission just released its meeting agenda for Monday – and the community center building is up for discussion.

I’ll be there to cover the meeting and I’ll let you know what happens.
