Valparaiso Commissioner Resigns, Search Begins For Replacement

Valparaiso Mayor Brent Smith announced the resignation of Commissioner Ed Crosby from the Valparaiso City Commission at their monthly meeting on April 14.

As of Monday evening, Crosby, an Air Force Veteran, has already been removed from the Valparaiso City Website.

Mayor Smith told the commission and the small crowd of less than 10 at the meeting that Crosby resigned due to medical-related reasons and said he would not elaborate further.

What Happens Next?

In the interim, Commissioner Tom Browning will take over Crosby’s duties, including the city’s responsibility to the regional water and sewage treatment facility in Niceville.

The City Commission will take applications to replace Commissioner Crosby on the dais for the remainder of his term.

The commission will vote on the replacement no earlier than next month’s regular commission meeting.

Crosby’s seat is up for re-election in March of 2026.
