Governor Ron DeSantis announced the appointment of Robert Marinan and the reappointment of Gordon Fornell and James Wood to the Mid-Bay Bridge Authority. The trio, all veterans with distinguished military careers, will help oversee the management and operation of the bridge, which plays a crucial role in Okaloosa County’s infrastructure.
Robert Marinan, from Destin, is a former Senior Manager of Boeing and retired as a Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Air Force. He is active in local business and military advocacy groups, including the Defense Support Initiative and the Niceville-Valparaiso Chamber of Commerce.
Gordon Fornell, a Niceville resident, is a retired Lieutenant General in the U.S. Air Force. Fornell serves on several military affairs committees and brings his expertise in public policy and transportation to the authority.
James Wood, also from Destin, is a retired U.S. Army Lieutenant Colonel. A former Destin City Council member, Wood is a decorated veteran with numerous commendations, including the Legion of Merit and Bronze Star.
Their combined experience will continue to support the safe and efficient operation of the Mid-Bay Bridge, a vital transportation link for the region.
Wood and Fornell have served terms on the board previously. Marinan replaces Parker Destin, who ended his term and has been elected to the Okaloosa County School Board.
