Dive Into History: SS United States Reef Project

Okaloosa County, Visit Pensacola, and CCA Florida are joining forces to deploy the SS United States as the world’s largest artificial reef, creating a major new tourism and conservation asset for the region.

Okaloosa County has partnered with Visit Pensacola and CCA Florida to transform the historic SS United States into the world’s largest artificial reef. The $2 million project, scheduled for early 2026, aims to enhance marine habitats, attract divers from around the globe, and boost tourism across Northwest Florida.

JetBlue Expands Service to Florida Panhandle With New Flights to Destin–Fort Walton Beach Starting March 2026

JetBlue will launch new nonstop flights from Boston and New York to Destin–Fort Walton Beach Airport starting March 5, 2026. The seasonal routes will operate five days a week, expanding the airline’s service in Florida and connecting the Emerald Coast to the Northeast. Introductory fares start at $49 one way through November 9.
