Mayor Whitten Joins National Foreign Policy Summit

Mayor JB Whitten traveled to Washington, D.C., to take part in a national foreign policy summit connecting local leaders with federal officials to address how global events shape city-level challenges.

Crestview Mayor JB Whitten joined more than 30 mayors from across the country in Washington, D.C., for the Mayors Foreign Policy Summit, a two-day event hosted by the Council on Foreign Relations and the U.S. Global Leadership Coalition. Whitten said the meetings with national policymakers and members of Congress offered valuable insight into how global issues directly affect Crestview and provided an opportunity to voice the city’s concerns at the federal level.

A Community Effort to Help Those Affected by the Government Shutdown

Crestview residents have launched a volunteer initiative called Friends Taking Care of Friends to help families affected by the government shutdown through weekly Free Food Friday events offering meals and supplies at the Old Spanish Trail Amphitheater.

The group’s Free Food Friday events provide hot meals and groceries each week at the Old Spanish Trail Amphitheater, helping families in need through the end of the year.
